It’s that time of the year! The September issues are out and I have flicked through the VOGUE’s UK issue. Of course the fall season comes with the usual tweeds, knits, checks and some dogtooth. What stands out to me are daring combinations of summer pastels with dark autumnal tones and mixes of dots and stripes. There is a ballet theme, including ballerina prints and jewellery, full skirts and ballet shoes with lace ups. On top of that pink is a surprising winter colour. Knee high socks make for a very girly looks. But on the other hand overknees are making a comeback too, which give the option to alter your look and go for an edgy silhouette. CHANEL has created my favourite accessory. The brand has separated the overknee from the shoo, which you can combine with loafers or anything else you feel like. I love having the option to vary. And the combination of lacquer and leather, hot!

Even through Daria Werbowy is on the cover, Cara Delevingne is everywhere. Who knew Fendi, DKNY, Mulberry and Pepe Jeans were so alike. She did get some amazing shots, including one with Pharrell Williams. I have serious envy for the wool and lace slip dress she is wearing by Louis Vuitton. Here is a small collage of my favourite pics.

About the title: Well that was an easy one. That will be hard to beat next time I write about Vogue, but it will no doubt make for a more surprising choice. Madonna made a really clever move there, as usual, making an great hit song matching the title that would make most people only think of the magazine at the time. After the release of this song it was at least also about ‘strike a pose’, as voguing became main stream. The dance style actually originates from the 70’s. I would have loved to be voguing in New York in the 90’s though.

Amanda Seyfried is one of those actresses who chooses divers projects to work on. Like a chameleon, she has portrayed a high school girl in Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan, a bubbly singer in Abba’s story Mamma Mia with Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan as well as a very dramatic love of a soldier in Dear John with Channing Tatum. All movies I really enjoyed watching. Now she has gone pornstar, portraying Linda Lovelace in a biopic of the making of ‘70s main stream porn hit movie Deep Throat. The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, January 2013. It has a limited release in the US today, the 9th of August, and will be in cinema’s in the UK and other countries in August and September. The title is Lovelace and from what I have seen so far, Amanda looks gorgeous in it. I am curious to see more of her ‘70s outfits. Seyfried regularly looks stunning on the red carpet and in magazine shoots. I like that she is far from plastic and seems to live a healthy lifestyle. She has been spotted out running with her dog and enjoying ice creams, so she is clearly not afraid to eat. It’s that type of small things that make her even more likable. I will definitely go and see this movie and already look forward to her future films. Wonder what will be next!

Amanda Seyfried

About the title: Talk about blurred lines. She seemed more of a good girl, but Seyfried is definitely crossing over here.  And actually Linda Lovelace comes off as an admirable person, who happened to been pushed into doing porn scenes. She later turned anti-pornography and spoke out about domestic violence. Not a light movie, that’s for sure. So as a contrast this hot summer tune from Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell that is currently topping the US charts.

Wow. Hair jealousy OTT! Model Chloe Nørgaard has got such awesome colored locks. She is known for her ever changing rainbow combinations. She dies it herself and has given Vogue Daily some tips about how to get the best results. She dies is once a week or every other week, depending on how bright or faded she wants it to be. She only bleaches the roots, which is a good idea for keeping long hair healthy. Then for changing colors, she thinks of the color wheel: going from blue to purple or green is ok, but you can’t really go to orange. Sounds like an artist at work!

Chloe Nørgaard

She has already modeled for UNIQLO, BENETTON, FOREVER21 and now for Australian psychedelic brand MINKPINK. This label is really something else. The style is an eclectic mix of prints and fabrics with a bohemian look. Pulling ideas from street style to vintage, you can already begin to imagine this is out there! Started in 2005 by designer Rachel Evans, it is growing rapidly and now stocked in over a 1000 stores.  And if you don’t find it in a store near you, it is available online, for instance at ASOS. The MINKPINK shoot was done by photographer Mike Piscitelli in Venice Beach. Here is one of the resulting pictures.

About the title: The 80’s hit from Cyndi Lauper is a real classic in my book. I actually did this song at a mini playback show when I was really little and I won second prize with it. I was so proud! Of course Cyndi was known for her outrages styles and bright hair colors. She is currently on tour, with upcoming dates in Australia and a concert in New York at the end of the year.

Such a summery nail polish: ‘Diving in the Maldives’. Excellent holiday name. The blue green haze does make me think of a tropical destination with turquoise water,  white sandy beaches and palm trees. This is a nail polish from SEPHORA. I like that they have these small 5ml bottles. That way I feel I can get more colors, they take up less space and easily fit in your luggage. CHANEL had a similar color called Peridot, which was a big buzz, but that was a limited edition. So this makes for an excellent substitute.

About the title: Yeah, it’s the YEAH YEAH YEAHS! I bet if this nail polish existed in 2006, Karen O would have worn it in the video. In fact, she is actually wearing something similar. They are on tour at the moment and have several US dates coming up. Catch them if you can!

Smoothies are a regular in my food pattern. Every weekday starts with a fruit smoothie and in phases sometimes they end with a veggie one. A favorite is the carrot, orange and ginger smoothie. I would say this is a classic in smoothie land. If you have a blender it is super easy to make. Just use an equal amount of orange and carrot and add a small chunk of fresh ginger, depending on how strong you like the taste. I add a spoon of linseed, a super food containing fiber, micronutrients and omega-3 fatty acids. Lots of goodness in one smoothie, how easy! I made one the other day and added a celery sprig to nibble on in between. Doesn’t  it look delicious?!

About the title: This song is one of the first hits of Paramore from 2007. Hayley Williams’ ginger locks made me think of this song while writing. Their recently released hit Still Into You is also a great tune!

Agent Provocateur, brand of the son of Vivienne Westwood, Joseph Corré, and his now ex-wife Serena Rees, has been around for almost twenty years. And even though they are currently owned by private equity firm 3i, I still see them as a unique style maker. So once in a while I go to their online shop to check out their new collections. And today I actually came across their accessories and noticed this amazing Globe-Trotter collaboration suitcase set. There is a trolley suitcase, a large version and also a Vanity case. They are black hard cases with gold bras clasps. But the special Agent Provocateur thing is the inside. It has an exclusive illustrated travel print on baby pink silk fabric. The print shows pin ups of different countries including Egypt, Texas, Paris, Shanghai… So where ever your paradise, Hawaii maybe, these suitcases will be a stylish companion! Also check out their lingerie and their super sexy bandage swimsuits and bikinis!

About the title : Fairy Paradise is one of the beautiful delicate songs of CocoRosie. These two sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady make such a unique blend of genres with Pop, Electro, Opera and Beatbox sounds. This song was released in 2010 on the album Grey Oceans. I don’t know that album, but came across this great live recording, which I will put on the FWxSS YouTube playlist. They do have a new album out called Tales of a Grass Widow. I have listened to several of the new tracks and this sounds more accessible, although it is luckily also still pretty eccentric. But the song Noah’s Ark is still my favorite. If you would like to see them live, CocoRosie have just started touring again, so check their site for any dates near you.

It’s nail polish day! This time I went for my favorite red, which is Brilliant Red by KOH. And to make it extra shiny I added some rhinestones. You can put them on the nail polish when it is still wet, but for a stronger hold, you can use glue once the nail polish is dry. I used tweezers to get them in the right place.

KOH is a great quality brand with beautiful colors and a very nice design. I like the Japanese geisha branding they have. I’ve always been fascinated by Japan. I think that started when watching Karate Kid when I was a child. So I am talking about the old movie from ’84, in which Japanese teacher Miyagi, who has Bonsai trees, uses his garden for training. The new one with Jaden Smith is also great and the setting in China was a good idea for a current remake. Nowadays China has grown in appeal to me. But still, I love the link of KOH to geisha beauty.

About the title: Taylor Swift. Her songs are usually upbeat and super catchy and overplayed on the radio. But I still think they are fun and she is definitely one of the current pop stars I like. Without it seeming to much of a guilty pleasure, because she is simply a really good singer. And well, this song is different. Where she usually disses her exes, this one is more like a love song. Admitting you are passionate about that one guy, even though it did not work out. Haven’t figured out about who she sang this one though. Does anyone know?

I HEART Lana Del Rey! She is gorgeous and her songs are beautiful and unique. Her album “Born to Die” was my favorite last year. I went to see her at Montreux Jazz. Although it wasn’t a very surprising performance artistically, I did enjoy seeing her sing the song live. She is working on new material at the moment. I hope that the final work will be just as great. Following up from such a hit record is hard for any musician. Some songs, plus what seems to be unfinished material, have been leaked. And being curious, I have listened. The funniest thing I came across, was a diss at Lady Gaga. Not sure if this was actually just made and if it will be released. It is swarming around the net like crazy at the moment. In the song Del Rey sings “You’re looking like a man, you’re talking like a baby”, “Stefani, you suck” and “Have we all gone Gaga crazy”. Off course the “Little Monsters” did not like that. I say, it is a bit too throwing it out there. But it makes for good entertainment! For the record, I thing Lady Gaga is pretty awesome as well. Not only her music, I specifically loved her sketch “Cooking with Gaga” on Alan Carr’s show. That was so hilarious!

About the title: Catfight! This is exactly what makes them girls. A great Lana song, with an amazing video. It contains a lot of shots from different movies with awesome chicks in it. Go and see it on the YouTube channel.

All eyes on the new future king, off course. How could anyone not write about this today. While the Prince of Cambridge was shown to the world, Kate was wearing one of her favorite designers Jenny Packham. Polka Dots similar to what Diana wore when showing William. I was in a creative mood, so I made a little illustration of the dress. Hope you like it!

About the title: Luckily the royal baby did not scream nor shout, but according to Prince William he does have a good pair of longs. Very suitably, the song is of namesake Will.I.Am, in a collaboration with Britney. And well, all the eyes of the world were watching the couple come through that door yesterday!

Although I like beauty products and love playing around with make-up, the idea of having a facelift completely freaks me out. I tried Botox once and thought that did work really well. But injecting this stuff into my face every couple of months seems risky and expensive. I prefer a more natural look anyway. Doutzen Kroes posted this picture of her cute wrinkled nose, stating: “Wrinkles…. emotions, proud, women”. I think she is on to something. And after looking around the net, I was quickly on to something too: Face Yoga! Being a fan of Bikram Yoga, I immediately liked the idea of it. And apparently so do Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow. I noticed there are several ladies who are teaching this, so below a couple of links for you to go and try. Let me know what you think of it. I will be doing my face exercises from now on!

About the title: This song is hilarious. It’s a ‘70s punk song by British band The Monks. Basically, if you do Yoga, but forget the Face Yoga, well, then you get to this title. And if you go for surgery, you will risk the same outcome. You get the best result by actually making an effort. So get your Lion Face on and blow those Marilyn kisses!
